Road Manual: GL Charge PublicBox & GlowBox

On this page you will find the steps to connect the GL Charge PublicBox and GlowBox to the Road platform.

Configuration Requirements

  • Road Sim card (optional), EVSE ID, configuration manual for the installer and registration manual for the owner of the charging station

  • Online Installation Manual GL Charge

  • Configuration device: laptop

  • Ethernet cable

Follow the steps

Step 1: Connect the PC to the charger via an Ethernet cable.

Step 2: Set the IP address of the PC:

  • IP Address: 192.168.1.3

  • Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

Step 3: Open a web browser and navigate to http://192.168.1.2.

Step 4: Log in to the web interface:

  • Username: installer

  • Password: installer

Step 5: In the menu of the web interface, select Ethernet or GSM as the priority connection and configure the network settings accordingly:

  • Ethernet:

    • Navigate to the Ethernet tab

    • Choose the IP address allocation method:

      • DHCP: Automatically obtain an IP address

      • Static IP: Manually enter the IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and DNS servers

    • Save the settings

  • GSM:

    • Navigate to the GSM tab

    • Enter the SIM card settings from Road:

      • APN:

        • When using a white Road SIM card or another connection method: m2m.services

        • When using a purple Road SIM card: road.io

      • PIN code: ‘Not required’

      • Username and Password: ‘Not required’

    • Save the settings

Note: you can configure both Ethernet and GSM connection on the charger, the charger will use the primary connection by default and switch to the secondary if the primary is unavailable.

Step 6: Navigate to the OCPP tab and enter the following values:

  • Host Address:

    • When using a white Road SIM card or another connection method: ws://ocpp.road.io/<provider-slug>

    • When using a purple Road SIM card: ws://ocpp-internal.road.io/<provider-slug>

  • Charge Point Identity: ‘Enter the serial number of the charger’

  • Security Settings: ‘Not required’

Step 6: Click on the Save button to apply the changes and click on Restart OCPP to connect with the central system.

The charging station is now connected to the Road platform!
