Configuration Requirements

  • Road Sim card (optional), EVSE ID, configuration manual for the installer and registration manual for the owner of the charging station

  • Installation manual DirectPowerPS AC Tower

  • Configuration device: laptop

  • Simcard or ethernet cable

Follow the steps

Step 1: In order to make changes to the configuration of the charging station, the web-based configuration interface must be accessed. The web interface can be accessed via USB or Ethernet:

  • USB:

    • Connect a USB cable (USB-A to micro-USB) from your PC to the controller of the charger.

    • Make sure to plug the micro USB connector of the cable into the corresponding port on the controller (marked with CONFIG).

    • Open your browser and enter the following address: http://192.168.123.123/operator

  • Ethernet:

    • Connect an ethernet cable from your PC to the controller of the charger.

    • Configure your PC to an IP address in the same range as the charger:

      • IP address: 192.168.124.100

      • Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

    • Open your browser and enter the following address: http://192.168.124.123/operator

Step 2: Once you have access to the web interface of the charger, you can login with the following credentials:

  • Username: operator

  • Password: yellow_zone

Note: After logging into the interface, you should immediately change the standard password of the charger to your own unique password.

Step 3: Go to the Network submenu to establish a network connection.

  • Automatic (DHCP): the IP address is automatically assigned to the charging point by the DHCP server in the network.

  • Static: The IP address of the charging point can be assigned statically.

Step 4: Navigate to the Backend submenu to setup the backend connection. Enter the following value to connect the charger to the Road backend:

  • OCPP ChargeBoxIdentity: enter the unique serial number of the charger

  • OCPP Mode: OCPP-J 1.6

  • WebSockets JSON OCPP URL of the Backend:

    • When using a white Road SIM card or another connection method: ws://ocpp.road.io/<provider-slug>

    • When using a purple Road SIM card: ws://ocpp-internal.road.io/<provider-slug>

Note: When using a purple Road SIM card the APN name should be changed to: road.io. When using the white Road SIM card or another SIM card the APN name should be m2m.services.

Step 5: Check in the Dashboard submenu if the charger is successfully connected to the Road backend.

The charging station is now connected to the Road platform!
