Written by Thom Bosveld

Configuration Requirements

  • Road Sim card, EVSE ID, configuration manual for the installer and registration manual for the owner of the charging station

  • ABL Configuration app

  • Mobile phone

Follow the steps

Step 1: Insert the sim card in the 4G-dongle that was delivered with the charging station.

Step 2: Download the ABL configuration app from the App Store or Google Play store.

Step 3: Open the app, click on Start a new configuration and confirm that you are a certified electrician.

Step 4: Follow the steps in the configuration app and make a connection with the eM4 by scanning the QR code that’s shown on the commissioning label of the charger.

Step 5: After adding the eM4 to the configuration app, press Next to create a password for the charger.

Note: The charger will reboot automatically after you’ve created a password. Once the charger has restarted you will get the option to connect the charger to the local WiFi network for easier access to the app in the future.

Step 6: Choose one of the provided network connection methods (LAN/LTE), add more chargers to the same network if necessary and configure the technical settings of the charger(s).

Step 7: Click on 'Manual input':

Step 8: Fill in the following information:

  • OCPP Version: 1.6

  • Central System Address

    • When using a white Road SIM card or another connection method: ws://ocpp.road.io

    • When using a purple Road SIM card: ws://ocpp-internal.road.io

  • Local Port: 'Empty'

  • Local Path: /<ProviderSlug>

Step 9: Click on next to confirm the settings.

The charging station is now connected to the Road platform!
