Configuration Requirements

  • Road Sim card, EVSE ID, configuration manual for the installer and registration manual for the owner of the charging station

  • Smartphone

  • E-Config app

Follow the steps

Step 1: To start the set-up connect the eBOX to your smartphone via Bluetooth, get access to the eBOX configuration via the unique PUK of the eBOX.

Step 2:Enter the parameters for the technical settings (phases, current, asymmetric load), configure the backend settings.

When launching the app, a guide appears, providing instructions to establish a Bluetooth connection to the eBOX. The red symbol indicates a missing connection. Once you, the installer, have established a Bluetooth connection to the eBOX, the icon turns green and the configuration can continue.

Step 3: The PUK is located on the back of the user manual that came with the
eBOX. After the eBOX has been successfully unlocked, you as the installer can choose between a business or private installation.

Step 4: As the installer, you can directly adjust the following settings:

  • Region: select the region where the eBOX is operating (US or EU).

  • Number of phases: configure whether the eBOX is connected to 1 phase or 3 phases.

  • Charging load: choose the available charging load for the eBOX (16A, 20A, or 32A).

  • Asymmetric load detection: enable or disable asymmetric load detection.

Disclaimer: The detection of asymmetric load is mandatory in Germany.

Step 5: During commissioning you as the installer choose a connection with our backend (B2B). A connection can be established via Wi-Fi, LAN or SIM. The SIM card must be installed and activated. This can happen during installation or during production for clients with agreements concerning this matter.

Step 6: When a valid network connection is established, then you can proceed with the backend settings. As the most important field, the Backend URL: ws://ocpp.road.io/<provider-slug> can be entered. When continuing, the backend connection is validated. A green screen with the rolling E indicates a successful configuration. The eBOX will now reboot and apply the changes.

Step 7: After successful commissioning, you can access and configure the eBOX via
it's backend portal. When reconnecting to the eBOX, a summary of the configuration is displayed.
Use this view to validate the entered parameters. You can update the data via the refresh icon, reboot the eBOX or reset it to factory settings. If you want to adjust parameters, you must complete the commissioning process again.

The charging station is now connected to the Road platform!
