Configuration Requirements

  • Road Sim card (optional), EVSE ID, configuration manual for the installer and registration manual for the owner of the charging station

  • Laptop, tablet or smartphone with internet connection

Follow the steps:

Step 1: Insert the SIM card into the charger. To do this, follow Webasto's manual. You can download the Webasto Installation Instructions on this webpage.

Step 2: Make sure the that Webasto Live is connected to electricity and grab your laptop. Stay close to the Webasto to establish a good connection to the charging station.

Step 3: Find within the available Wi-Fi networks the hotspot that matches the serial number of the charging station (Webasto!Live #SERIALNUMBER). To do this, we recommend using a Windows laptop.

Step 4: Connect to the hotspot and enter the Wi-Fi Key (WPA 2) to connect to the hotspot. The login details for the charger can be found on the sticker of the Webasto. See the picture below.

Step 5: Open your browser and type 172.20.0.1 in the search bar and press enter.

Step 6: Go to the Webasto dashboard and enter your password. The password is the login password shown on the sticker.

Step 7: In the dashboard, click on Network and fill in the following values:

  • Access point Name (APN):

    • When using a white Road SIM card or another connection method: m2m.services

    • When using a purple Road SIM card: road.io

  • APN Username: Leave empty

  • APN Password: Leave empty

  • Simcard PIN Number: Leave empty

  • Network selection mode: Auto Requested

  • Network operator: Leave empty

  • Network operator name format: Alphanumeric Short

Click on Save.

Step 8: Go to Backend and fill in the following values:

  • Connection Type: GSM

  • ChargeBoxID: EVSE ID --> see the sticker included in the "Ready to charge" envelope. This number must be copied exactly as it appears on the sticker, but with dashes as in this example: (NL*EFL*EV*XXXXXXX)

  • OCPP Mode: OCPP - J 1.6 *

  • Websockets JSON OCPP URL of backend:

    • When using a white Road SIM card or another connection method: ws://ocpp.road.io/<provider-slug>

    • When using a purple Road SIM card: ws://ocpp-internal.road.io/<provider-slug>

  • Websocket keep-alive interval: 60

  • Restart transaction after power loss: On

  • Backend connection timeout: 60

  • SSL Strictness as Client: Normal SSL Auth

Step 9: Once your Wallbox appears on the screen, you may click on the charger and wait for it to connect.

Step 10: Once connected, press the cogwheel, select connectivity, select WIFI and connect the charger to a network.

Step 11: Save the settings and reboot the charger. After the restart, you will lose the connection to the hotspot as the charging station restarts.

The charging station is now connected to the Road platform!
