Road Manual: Fox ESS

On this page you will find the steps to connect the Fox ESS charger to the Road platform.

Configuration Requirements

  • Road Simcard (optional), EVSE ID, configuration manual for the installer and registration manual for the owner of the charging station

  • Online installation & user guide Fox ESS

  • Fox Switch app

  • Mobile phone

Follow the steps:

Step 1: Open the Fox Switch app and select your location

Step 2: Register and login in the Fox Switch app

Step 3: Click Add to enter the device binding page

Step 4: As nickname fill in the serialnumber of the charger. Click the scan icon on the right side of the SN column, scan the QR code
of the serial number on the side of the charger and click Confirm to complete the
binding.

Step 5: Click on the newly added charger. Follow the steps below to open the network
configuration page.

  1. Select the charger

  2. Press the 3 dotts in the top right corner

  3. Select Network

If you choose to connect the charger with WiFi follow step 6. If you want to connect using a simcard follow step 7.

Step 6: Choose WIFI, enter your WiFi name and password, and click Setting to
complete the setting. Click the back icon to return to the previous menu.

Step 7: Under network select 4G. Fill in the following APN:

  • When using a white Road SIM card or another connection method: m2m.services

  • When using a purple Road SIM card: road.io

Press Setting and return to the main menu.

Step 8: Follow the following steps to open the OCPP configuration

  1. Press the three dots in the top right corner

  2. Select OCPP

Step 9: Enter the following OCPP settings:

  • OCPP URL:

    • When using a white Road SIM card or another connection method: ws://ocpp.road.io/<provider-slug>

    • When using a purple Road SIM card: ws://ocpp-internal.road.io/<provider-slug>

  • Security profile: 0

  • Press complete

The charging station is now connected to the Road platform!
