This article explains upcoming changes for your customers who charge at stations connected to the Gireve and e-clearing networks. Starting May 1, 2025, a €0.40 per session fee (excl. VAT) will apply when using a Road connected charge card at Gireve and e-clearing network charge points. This fee does not apply to charge points outside these networks and will appear on your invoice as “Roaming Hub processing fee.”

1. What is changing for Road Private Label MSP customers?

As a Private Label MSP customer, you now have the option to disable charging in the Gireve or e-clearing network. This gives you full control over your charging offerings and associated costs.

2. Why are we paying extra costs for Gireve and e-clearing?

Both roaming platforms have updated their pricing. Under the new pricing structure, we are required to pay a fee for each MSP session that runs through the platform. This results in the additional €0.40 per session fee.

3. What happens if I continue offering charging via the Gireve or e-clearing network?

If you continue offering charging via these networks, a processing fee of €0.40 per session (excl. VAT) will apply.

4. How is the €0.40 per session fee charged?

  • If Road handles the billing on my behalf: The €0.40 per session (excl. VAT) will be billed to the end customer and collected by Road.

  • If I handle the billing myself: You have two options:

    1. The €0.40 per session fee can be included in the invoice sent to your customer. You will collect the full invoice amount from your customer, and Road will bill you separately for the additional fee.

    2. If you prefer to cover these additional fees yourself instead of passing them to your customers, please contact your customer success manager.

5. Will the session data be enriched to indicate which sessions have the €0.40 charge applied, and how will this be made available via the platform/API?

Yes, we will enrich the session data to clearly indicate when the €0.40 charge is applied. This information will be made available in the session document for API customers and visible within the platform.

How will this be implemented?

  • The session data will include a specific field that identifies whether the €0.40 charge has been applied.

  • This field will be accessible via the API, ensuring that external systems can retrieve the relevant data.

  • Within the platform, this information will be displayed in session details, allowing users to track and reconcile the applied charges.

6. How can I see how many sessions are processed via eclearing and Gireve?

To check how many charging sessions have been processed via e-Clearing and Gireve, Private Label (PL) users should follow these steps:

1. Go to the your dashboard/analytics/msp/locations.

2. Set the date filter to cover the period from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2024.

3. For e-Clearing sessions, check the percentage listed under the source “eClearing.”

4. For Gireve sessions, look for operator “FR007” in the list and note the number of sessions processed through this network.

7. What can I tell my customers?

We want to inform you about an upcoming change affecting charge card users who charge at stations connected to the Gireve and e-clearing networks. From 1 May 2025, an additional fee of €0.40 per session (excl. VAT) will apply when using an [MSP Name] charge card at charge points in these networks. This primarily affects customers charging in Belgium, Germany, France, Spain, and Italy, including those traveling from other countries on holiday.

To help customers manage their charging preferences, we are introducing a new filter on the map that displays public charging locations. This filter allows users to view only Gireve and e-clearing connected charging stations. The same information will also be shown on the location details page.

The map is available in both the web-based dashboard and the mobile app. By enabling the option "without additional fee per session," charge stations within these networks will be excluded from the map (see picture).

Any applicable fees will appear separately on the charge card invoice under ‘Roaming Hub Processing Fees.’

8. Can I disable charging in the Gireve or e-clearing network?

Yes, you have the option to disable charging in these networks if you want to avoid the additional fees. If you wish to disable these networks, please contact our customer success team for assistance.

9. Can I put an extra fee on top of the Roaming Hub Fee?

At the moment this is not possible.

10. What if I have more questions?

For further information, please reach out to your customer success manager or our support team.
