Road Manual: Beny

On this page you will find the steps to connect the Beny charger to the Road platform.

Configuration Requirements

  • Road Sim card (optional), EVSE ID, configuration manual for the installer and registration manual for the owner of the charging station

  • OCPP EV Charger Network Configuration Guideline

  • Configuration device: laptop or mobile phone

Follow the steps

Step 1: Enable the Wi-Fi AP Configuration Mode of the charger by following these steps:

  1. Disconnect the power supply of the charger and wait at least 30 seconds

  2. Press the emergency stop button

  3. Power on the charger and you will hear a beep after 5 seconds

  4. After 5 seconds you will hear a beep and the LED light will flash yellow

Step 2: Enter the configuration interface of the charger by opening the Wi-Fi settings on your mobile phone or laptop and selecting the Wi-Fi network named EVSE-XXXXX XXXX. The default password of the Wi-Fi network is 12345678.

Step 3: Open your web browser and enter the following address: 192.168.1.1.

Step 4: Login to the configuration interface by entering the following credentials:

  • Username: admin

  • Password: 12345678

Step 5: Click on Network Configuration and select the correct network method to setup the internet connection.

Note: The following network methods are supported by the charger: Wi-Fi, 4G and Ethernet.

Step 6: Configure the network method selected and save the settings afterwards:

  • Wi-Fi:

    • Select Wi-Fi Custom in the Network Configuration

    • Enter the Wi-Fi SSID and Password

  • 4G:

    • Select 4G in the Network Configuration

    • Enter the LTE settings of the sim card

  • Ethernet:

    • Select Ethernet in the Network Configuration

    • Enter the Static IP, Gateway and Netmask or select DHCP

Note: If you’re using an Road sim card to setup the internet connection, please enter the following LTE settings:

  • LTE APN:

    • When using a white Road SIM card or another connection method: m2m.services

    • When using a purple Road SIM card: road.io

  • LTE APN User: ‘leave empty’

  • LTE APN Password: 'leave empty’

Step 7: Click on Central System Configuration to setup the connection with the OCPP backend. Enter the following values to setup a connection with the Road platform:

  • Central System Hostname:

    • When using a white Road SIM card or another connection method: ws://ocpp.road.io/<provider-slug>

    • When using a purple Road SIM card: ws://ocpp-internal.road.io/<provider-slug>

  • Central System Port: 80

  • Charge Point Identity: ‘Enter the unique serial number of the charger’

  • Charge Point Path: 'leave empty’

Step 8: Save the settings and reboot the charger to complete the configuration of the charger.

The charging station is now connected to the Road platform!
